Design and Display

The display is a 12.3-inch touchscreen in a 3:2 aspect ratio, with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,600 pixels. The sharp touchscreen supports an optional Pen with 2,000 levels of pressure sensitivity.

The PixelBook comes with a tasteful slimline chassis that is measuring 10.3mm thick, decked out in aluminum and white plastic that echoes the design of the latest Pixel smartphones.

The Google PixelBook comes with a 360-degree hinge. The PixelBook is, therefore, convertible, meaning you can use it as a tablet by folding the screen all the way around to sit flat against the back of the keyboard. The Google PixelBook is a stunning device and nothing ever feels anything short of premium.

Hardware and Software

The PixelBook is available in three configurations, direct from Google: An Intel i5 version with 8 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD, a 256 GB SSD upgrade on that, and an Intel i7 version with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. In fact, the PixelBook comes with a seventh-generation Core i5 or Core i7 processor.

The Google PixelBook runs applications in the cloud. You can as well install and run Android apps on the hybrid.

 

Other Specs and Features

PixelBook features two USB-C 3.1 ports.which can be used to charge the 41Wh battery that will last up to 10 hours on a charge according to Google. You can get enough power to last up to two hours from just 15-minute charging according to the company.

The hybrid supports Google Assistant that can be activated with a single tap on a dedicated button. You can use “OK, Google” commands or type in your requests into the tool. The assistant can perform many familiar tasks such as checking your calendar, make appointments, look up restaurants, and more through the “Ok Google” voice command.

PixelBook also supports Assistant activation on the optional Pen. If you choose to go wireless, the Pixel is offering an 802.11ac Wi-Fi adapter with 2×2 MIMO support and Bluetooth 4.2.

Verdict

The PixelBook has high-end hardware and a great hybrid design. In every sense of the word, it is a true hybrid. Both in compatibility and performance, the Google PixelBook has a lot to offer that the similarly priced Chromebook Pixel never could offer. Alongside the most high-end Windows and Mac devices, the Google PixelBook is worthy of consideration because it is the best Chromebook ever made.
